Frequently asked questions about buying, selling and using the platform. If you cannot find the answer, write to us using the form at the bottom of the page.

Basics and using the platform

What is thatbike?

Thatbike is a European online marketplace with classified ads for bikes, e-bikes and cycling gear. It connects private sellers and dealers with buyers from all 27 EU countries in one place, and it is available in 8 languages.

Is thatbike the same as BAJK.SI?

Yes. BAJK.SI has been renamed thatbike and has opened up to buyers and sellers across the European Union. The platform is now at thatbike.com, and the bajk.si address redirects there automatically, so your old links and bookmarks still work. Your account, listings and conversations have stayed as they were; there is no need to register again or republish your listings.

Is using the platform free of charge?

Browsing listings and publishing a basic listing are free. Only additional promotion options are paid, for example the Premium listing label, which shows your listing higher and more prominently.

What can I advertise on thatbike?

You can advertise new and used bikes of all kinds (road, mountain, trekking, kids), e-bikes, and bike parts and gear. Listings must be truthful and comply with the terms of use.

Which countries does the platform cover?

The platform covers all 27 EU countries. You can limit your search to your own country or extend it to other European countries, and filter listings by region and town to find a bike near you faster.

Languages and translation

In which languages is the platform available?

The platform is available in 8 languages: Slovenian, English, German, Italian, Croatian, French, Czech and Hungarian. You can change the language and country at any time with the location button in the page header.

Are listings translated automatically?

Yes. You write your listing in your own language, and users from other countries see its title and description translated automatically into the language they use the platform in. You do not need to write the listing in several languages.

How do I see the original text of a listing?

Above a translated description there is a note that it was translated automatically. Click "Show original" to read the text as the seller wrote it, or "Translate listing" to return to the translation.

Are messages between users translated?

Yes. If the other user has their account set to a different language, you write in your own language and each of you receives the messages translated into your own language. A translated message is marked "Automatic translation"; click "Show original" to see the text exactly as it was written.

Can I rely on automatic translation?

Automatic translation is only an aid and may be inaccurate. The original text of a listing or message always applies, so check important details such as price, frame size and condition in the original or confirm them with the other party.

Buying

How do I find the right bike?

Use the search bar at the top of the page or browse by category. You can narrow the results with filters by price, location, brand and product condition.

How do I contact the seller?

On the listing page, click the contact or message-the-seller button. Sending messages requires a free registration, which ensures safer communication.

What should I pay attention to when buying a used bike?

If possible, inspect the bike in person, check the frame for cracks and damage, test the brakes and drivetrain, and for e-bikes check the battery condition. Ask for the original receipt and documentation.

How do I check that a bike is not stolen?

Write down the frame serial number and ask the seller for proof of purchase. If the price is suspiciously low or the seller refuses an in-person handover, be careful.

Selling

How do I publish a listing?

Click "Publish listing", choose a category and enter the title, description, price, location and photos. After submission, the listing is published in accordance with the platform rules.

How many photos can I add and how should I photograph the bike?

We recommend several clear photos in daylight from different angles, including any damage. Quality photos significantly increase the chance of a quick sale.

How do I edit or delete my listing?

Log in and open "My listings". For each listing you can edit the content, temporarily hide it or delete it permanently.

What does the Premium listing label mean and how do I promote a listing?

Premium listing is a paid promotion that shows your listing more prominently and higher among the results. You can choose promotion when publishing or later when editing the listing.

How do I set the right price and write a good description?

Compare prices of similar bikes on the platform and be realistic about the condition. In the description, state the brand, model, frame size, year, mileage and any upgrades or defects.

Account and login

How do I register?

Click "Log in" and then "Create a new account". All you need to register is an e-mail address; the process is free and takes less than a minute.

How does one-time code (passwordless) login work?

When logging in, you enter your e-mail address and we send a one-time code to it. Enter the code and you are logged in — no password to remember. Password login remains available as an alternative.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

On the login page, choose "Forgot password" and enter your e-mail address. We will send you a link to reset your password. Or you can simply log in with a one-time code.

How do I change my e-mail address or password?

Log in and open your account settings. There you can update your e-mail address, password and other profile information.

Safety and privacy

How do I protect myself from scams?

Never pay in advance or as a deposit to unknown persons, avoid unusual payment methods and pick up the bike in person. If an offer seems too good to be true, it is most likely a scam.

Does thatbike mediate payment or delivery?

No. Thatbike is a marketplace and does not mediate payment or delivery. The buyer and the seller agree on the payment method and handover directly between themselves.

How do I report a suspicious listing or user?

A report option is available on every listing. You can also report suspicious content using the form at the bottom of this page and we will review it as soon as possible.

How do you protect my personal data?

We process your data in accordance with applicable personal data protection legislation. Details are described in the Privacy policy document, available in the page footer.
